Valley School  - 05 June 2004

The valley has diverse micro-eco systems where a variety of plant, animal and bird life thrives. I reached the place at around 8 in the morning.  The weather being gloomy, there was not much bird activity to be seen.  Since this was my first visit to Valley School, I decided to explore the area and drove up and down the place randomly, looking for wooded areas.  There was one particular unmetalled road with significant canopy on both sides.  It was while driving  through this area that  I noticed the Baya Weaver building its nest.

I tried to use the car as a hide to shoot the nesting but the subject was quite far and so had to leave my car and proceed on foot.  The Baya Weaver was building its nest at the tip of the branches, which  was hanging on top of a well.  The pump house beside the well,  gave me good cover to shoot the nesting, without disturbing the Baya Weaver.  I took some shots of the Baya building the nest, before the lighting became too dull for me to shoot.

I  proceeded further down the road, till I came to a vast opening with shrubs on both side of the road. Here I was able to shoot a couple of more birds and also a Bee Hawk Moth.

Here are some photographs taken during this short visit to Valley School area.
